MEDITATION ON … INSPIRATION
Help Your Inspiration Come to Life
Inspiration is flowing your way every moment of every day. The first question is, are you tuned in? Most likely you are tuned in at least some of the time and every so often receive an idea that sounds really good. Maybe you want to walk more, change your diet, or have a new business idea. Whatever the idea is, in that moment it enlivens you, and you feel yourself attracted to it, magnetically drawn toward the possibility of its success.
As quickly as it happens, it’s forgotten. Perhaps you are distracted by the kids or on your way to a meeting or simply cannot be bothered…all of these are forms of self-sabotage. When authentic inspiration strikes, it is your duty (and I’d say your moral obligation) to act on it in some way, however small. You know it’s authentic when you feel energy coursing through your body and a lightness of mind and heart before the nay-sayer in you butts in with all the reasons it’s not gonna happen.
So why do we (and certainly yours truly), so easily write off these creative impulses? Because we don’t trust them. Because we feel the need to analyze their value and probability of success. Because these inspirations are pointing in a direction to WAKE US UP to our own magnificence and genius, and the power and vulnerability required for this scares us.
The solution is to notice when inspiration strikes and in that moment respond to bring that impulse into physical form in some way. Even if you are with company, working out, on a date, sleeping — take some action to show the universe you are listening and available for inspiration’s intervention. This could mean simply writing down or recording the idea, if you literally are unable to pursue anything further. However, the moment you are able to do something,do it, and keep moving until the inspiration is spent. Do not delay.
As you begin to honor your inspiration, the uni-verse will reward you with more to sustain the original impulse. However, this requires remaining open, receptive and above all, patient. Do not judge what comes or does not come. Note that this is very much a right-brain approach to getting stuff done. It helps to have balance, to set up structure and organization to guide and support you in the direction of the imagined outcome. Commitment, persistence, and dedication are crucial. And, those elements of success are easier to come by if you allow yourself to be inspired on a day-to-day basis.
Because the uni-verse is sending us inspiration all the time and when we plug into it, it feels good, it’s also common to stay in this space and just enjoy it without ever acting on anything. This is living in fantasy. These ideas desire to become real and actualized…imagine them as little parts of your self that are waiting in anticipation to be with you in the physical dimension. Help them! It will be fun. :)
